friday five.

It's Friday and I'm back linking up with April today to share a few things on my mind:

ONE: Thank you for all of your great comments to my recent travel, Honest review, and life lately posts! I generally try to respond to comments via email, however I've noticed that some commenters have no-reply profiles -- meaning a username isn't attached to an email address (so I can't respond via email). I'm totally guilty of signing into the wrong email account and commenting on blogs as a "no-reply" so I know it's annoying. I thought it'd be easiest if I just replied directly to comments on my blog -- especially if someone asks a question. But those responses don't automatically get sent to the originally commenter and the no-reply username is still a problem. SO on my last post I responded to comments directly on my blog AND emailed people... it was a little time intensive #aintnobodygottimeforthat.

I'm considering adding Disqus to the comment section. I've found that platform is pretty user-friendly -- readers are emailed my reply directly so they don't have to go back and check to see if I have responded. What do you think? Are there any bloggers out there that love or hate the Disqus widget?
TWO: My brother-in-law and his wife are visiting this weekend AND I'm meeting up with some of my favorite bloggers. I love any excuse to go downtown and visit my favorite restaurants :)
THREE: I can't tell you the last time I had some brownies but now I'm totally craving them. I'm blaming Pinterest.
FOUR: We finished watching season 3 of OITNB the other night. I had really low expectations because a lot of people said this season was slow, but I really liked it. They shared more character backstories and they made me root for some of the more unlikable inmates (Carrie "Big Boo" and Tiffany "Pennsatucky"). I'm over Piper and Alex though -- hopefully they get out prison soon. Now I want to start a new show -- has anyone watched Bloodline? Is it any good?

FIVE: I'm happy to report that little Miss Vi has been doing much better with her sleep this week. We started a nighttime routine and we try to put her down at the same time every night. We decided not to do the cry it out method because her crib is still in our room. H and I take turns rocking her to sleep when she wakes up and I stopped feeding her in the middle of the night. She is getting better at self-soothing and she can stay asleep longer (WHOOHOO). We also started putting her in overnight diapers before bed. They are a game changer. Now I just need to find some unscented ones (hopefully Honest will make some soon).

Have a great weekend!

  2. I thought OITNB was entertaining too, except for the final episode. Totally over Alex and Piper too! Glad your nighttime routine is helping with Vi and excited to see you this weekend! :)

  3. Those brownies look delicious! I had Disquis on my site and I could not get it to function properly so I uninstalled it. Have a fabulous weekend! xo

  5. I think we need to start some nighttime routines too. Logan has been up multiple times at night instead of the one time we were used to. Yuck. Glad yours is helping! Those brownies look amazing! Now I'm going to have to make some. :) I had trouble installing Disqus too, but that might have been user error. I've been meaning to try it again, but haven't yet. Let us know how it goes if you end up using it! Have fun on your blogger date this weekend! xo

  8. I switched to Diqus for that reason of the no-reply bloggers. So far I like it. Those brownies...look so good, we're having people over on Saturday, I might have to make it. Hmm...???

  9. I LOVE Disqus. I think it would be a great change for you. You can reply via email and it posts to the blog at the same time. Also it doesn't pop readers out of their bloglovin feed if that's where a lot of your readers are coming from. That's a personal pet-peeve. I'm sure I'm the only one that bothers. lol
Can't wait to hear all the fun things from your weekend on Monday.

  11. Love Bloodline!! My husband and I just started watching it and we were hooked after the first episode. We've watched about 4 episodes now and I'm still loving it. And those oreo brownies look so good! I have a similar oreo bar dessert that I make and there is no baking required. :)

  13. Disqus all the way!! Look for Burning Love on Netflix. I hear it's great. It's a spoof on the Bachelor. I've never watched the Bachelor but this is hilarious! Tell me more about overnight diapers? I have to change Parker around 3 am and boy does that make her mad!!

  15. We use the next size up in Honest Co diapers for overnight and it works well - just email them and customize your bundle to get 1-2 packages of the next size up!!

  18. Disqus sounds like a good option for public replies to comments! I have noticed that a bunch of bloggers use it.

  19. It was so great meeting you! I personally don't love disqus just because I don't like having the traffic back and forth out there but that's just my personal opinion, a lot of people love it!

  20. Those brownies! Love those signs too!

  21. I love Disqus. Customer service isn't great if you have issues (and solutions aren't intuitive), but when it works it's the best.

Pst: I want to watch Bloodlines for Coach Taylor. That's okay, right?
