weekend good things.

This weekend H and my father-in-law got stuff donnne!
They removed the crazy slide off the swing set in our backyard (so the swing set is a lot less in your face), tore down a rotted wood platform (which previously supported a playhouse the old owners took with them), set up shelves in our storage closet (LOVE these!), installed a new kitchen faucet, hung curtains in our bedroom, changed air filters, got the door locks re-keyed, rearranged furniture, set up the guest bed, and hung a mirror in our downstairs guest bathroom. so yah -- it was a productive weekend. It's crazy how many little projects we have to do for this house but every time we complete something it feels more like our home.

We did take the time to go out to dinner -- we went out for Indian at Nirlep on Friday (I was disappointed with the food and we'll be going back to the Taste of India next time). We had BBQ at the Smoky Oak Taproom and that was delicious! Violet slept through both meals. My father-in-law insisted on ordering chocolate cake and ice cream and obviously I didn't mind:
There was three of us sharing...but still. the cake was deadly. and crazy good topped with vanilla ice cream (for the record H insisted on taking that "after" pic). After this weekend I started thinking I should really work on eating less fried food and sweets. I'll be the first to admit that I'm addicted to sugar and I'm sort of regretting not joining Aspiring Kennedy Sweet Escape Challenge of not eating sweets for 50 days. And then I finally saw Oreo s'mores at the grocery store...so much for that. We rounded off the weekend with some Portillo's Italian Beef for dinner.
How was your  weekend?

  16. That cake looks amazing, I'm not a big Oreo fan though. They hurt my teeth. Weird I know! Great picture of the swing set and I'm glad that you were able to get a lot done and have fun! :-)

  21. when Jon and I were long distance, I'd send him regular care packages with new Oreo flavors in them - to get him ready for America, you know! maybe I should pick up the S'Mores ones for nostalgia's sake :)
