cornflake dreams.: weekend good things.

3.02.2015

weekend good things.

Happy Monday! Another weekend has flown by and with my 38-week mark almost here (CRAZY!) I'm officially on baby labor watch :) :)

Last Friday H's co-workers surprised us with a baby shower and lunch at California Dreaming. The baby shower was SO sweet and totally unexpected! It was the first time I met all of h's co-workers and we had a great time chatting about babies and travel. And I finally got my cheesecake fix! Later that night we went to the gym, I made some sriracha peanut butter cookies (stop by tomorrow for the recipe and a giveaway) and we watched a few episodes of House of Cards.

The next day we met up with some friends for brunch at Bull Street Gourmet and Market. I had the almond french toast -- it was crusted with chopped almonds and cornflakes and served with strawberries -- sooo delicious!! H ordered a Croque Madame sandwich -- toasted brioche with ham, gruyere cheese, creamy béchamel sauce and a sunny side up egg -- I couldn't resist stealing a few bites :) It was one of the best brunches I've had in a long time and there was no wait for a table, which is pretty rare in Charleston! I can't wait to go back so I can try their lunch menu. After brunch we met with a potential pediatrician but unfortunately we weren't a fan. We got back to the house in time for H to watch a soccer game and I took a quick nap. We ended the night with more HOC (we only made it to episode 5, so no spoilers please!).

On Sunday we braved the rain and took a quick trip to the outlet mall. I found the cutest jean jacket on major sale and H bought some shoes and a jacket. Afterwards we went to the gym -- these days most of my workout consists of waddling around the track :) I finally finished packing my hospital bags that night and watched the Downton Abbey season finale (how is it already over?!).

How was your weekend?

  3. That brunch sounds yummy! I can't believe Downton is over already. I haven't watched last night's episode yet though, but I had no clue it was the finale. I'm curious to see what you packed in your hospital bags! Also, I've never "interviewed" a doctor before and feel so weird about meeting with pediatricians beforehand! Any tips you have would be much appreciated!! Have a happy Monday lady! xoxo

  12. I can't believe it is time to pack for the hospital! Sorry you didn't like the pediatrician but at least you are weeding them out now. Such a sweet gesture of H's coworkers to throw you a shower. I'll be throwing you one filled with champs and a table for two soon so get ready post-V ;)

  13. That brunch sounds SO delicious I'm hungry now!! That was so kind of H's coworkers to throw you a baby shower. Maybe some of them can recommend a pediatrician?? That jean jacket is really cute too. I bought one last summer and I wore it a lot. Eeeks to your hospital bag being packed now!! I hope that you are feeling good and relaxing a little bit!! :-)

Sucks to hear about the doctor, but better that than having a bad doctor, I guess?

  23. Woah! Sounds like you have a lot of exciting things going on right now! How nice for your husband's coworkers to throw y'all a surprise baby shower. I cannot believe Downton is done for the year - it always seems to go by so fast! And I JUST started watching House of Cards tonight at the gym. Excited to get into it and hope to save it for my days I workout instead of binging on the couch (because I did that with Scandal and it wasn't pretty haha).

Good luck to you in the next few days and week(s)! Have a great week!
