cornflake dreams.: five on friday.

1.09.2015

five on friday.

ONE: We experienced some winter weather this week in Charleston -- Ugh...this is not what I signed up for. We left Chicago because we aren't a fan of frigid temps! (and yes, I realize after six months I'm a total wimp when it comes to "cold" temps, but I'd rather not walk outside in -5 degrees again). Anyhoo, I used the chilly weather as an excuse to be a hermit and finish reading All Fall Down. It was a pretty good book, but sort of dragged on in spots (although I'd love to see a movie version). I'm also half-way through Yes Please and I'm really disappointed that I don't love it. Amy Poehler is funny but all the name dropping of comedians is a little lame (especially since I have to google them bc I have no idea who they are!) I'm going to try to finish it and hopefully it'll get better.
TWO: I'm getting a little tired of our current dinner rotation of meals, so I'd love to try some new recipes. I want to make chicken noodle soupBBQ chicken french bread pizza, and finally figure out how to make my own pizza dough (we usually buy flatbread to make our pizzas).
THREE: The Golden Globes are on this weekend and Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are hosting! I'm excited to watch the show and see who wins -- and more importantly what everyone wears. Will you be watching?
FOUR: My wish list for Violet is growing every day. I can't help it, there's sooo much cute stuff out there for babies and kids! Living in a small place has stopped me from buying a lot of excess stuff but we have a closet in the bathroom with tons of space for some adorable baby bathrobes :)
FIVE: There's still a few days left to enter the A Beautiful RAWR "Love and Grit" Racerback tank giveaway!

Have a great weekend!

  14. I'm in Columbia and I'm hating the cold. We can handle the heat, but the mention of 32 degrees or below is awfully scary in SC. I love the idea of BBQ Chicken French Bread Pizza. I might need to put that on my menu for next week.

  15. I got two hooded bath towels monogrammed for each of my boys when they were born and it is seriously one of the best purchased I made. We use them every day and I love them! I got mine at PBK.

  17. that cardi is super cute! i just started listening to amy's book and so far i am loving it. i am used to not knowing names, especially when it comes to SNL etc because i have never seen it, but i am enjoying it anyway! i think listening to those kinds of books - especially when they are read by the authors, like tina fey and amy, is so much better than actually attempting to read it. i'm not sure i could make myself read it - i couldn't read bossypants but loved listening to it.

  21. I think a movie version of AFD would be so good, too! Stop it with the baby bath robes. There's nothing more sweet than a clean beebie in a hooded robe hah. We'll probably skip the Golden Globes (Girls and a new show back on HBO finally!) but enjoy, friend, and stay warm!

  38. i'm glad i listened to the audiobook rather than having to read Yes Please. you know how some things are just funnier said than read? i think that's the case here. it just wouldn't have been as funny reading it to me. anyway, loved the GGs last night. i'm a huge awards season fan!!
