cornflake dreams.: 3-day weekend good things.

3-day weekend good things.

I loveee long weekends and visitors! :)
On Saturday I met up with Caitlyn, Ally, and Shelby for brunch at Eli's Table (sooo good! I had a giant egg biscuit sandwich). After we finished eating we went to a candle making class at Candlefish. Locals -- you have to visit this shop! It's full of unique gifts and tons of candles. I made a coconut, almond, vanilla, caramel candle and it smells amazing. We did a little shopping on King street and then I met up with H and his friend. Later that night I made lasagna soup for dinner (my go-to dish for guests!) and we went out to Kaminsky's for dessert.
We spent most of Sunday afternoon walking around downtown. We stopped by the graveyards at the Circular Church and St. Michael's Episcopal Church before having brunch at Toast. I had a short stack of banana pecan pancakes that would have made Jack Johnson jealous :)
After brunch we visited the Old Exchange Building and Provost DungeonI'm not convinced it's worth the $10 admission but I'm glad I crossed it off my Charleston to-do list. Since it was such a beautiful day (66 and sunny!) we finished the day with a trip out to Folly Beach.
On Monday we took a boat ride out to Fort Sumter. The National Monument is absolutely worth visiting and we saw dolphins riding the waves near our boat on the way back! Later that afternoon we had lunch at Poe's Tavern (we take all our visitors here), they have the best pimento cheeseburger! After lunch we walked around Sullivans Island beach and stopped by Shem Creek on the way home. By the end of the weekend I was exhausted but I had so much fun playing tour guide :)

How was your weekend?
