cornflake dreams.: Christmas in Charleston.

Christmas in Charleston.

We had the BEST time with my parents this past week -- it went by way too fast! We started the week with lunch at Queen Street Grocery (my favorite) and then we went to my ultrasound appointment. It was so nice to have my parents in the room when they informed me that I no longer have placenta previa!! (that means I probably won't have to have an C-section). They also got a kick out of seeing their grand-daughter sucking her thumb :) Later that night we went out to dinner at Poogan's Porch. I had the BBQ Chicken with Blue Cheese Risotto...soo good! The next day we braved the rain and went shopping on King Street and around the Charleston City Market. We grabbed lunch at Lowcountry Bistro, where my mom got her shrimp and grits fix. Later that night we watched Christmas Vacation and I made lasagna soup for dinner.
We went to Christmas mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Broad street. The church was absolutely gorgeous and I loved the Christmas music. I was planning on making lunch at our place after church, but we decided to eat at The Mills House instead. My parents stayed at the hotel and they had a hugeee spread with just about everything. Afterwards we took a long walk to Battery Park and Rainbow Row. My mom and I spent the rest of the night baking and decorating her sugar cookies (they are the best!).We spent most of Friday at Middleton Place Plantation (I'll post a full recap of our visit next week) and we went out for dinner that night at Hank's seafood (my dad was in seafood heaven!). We fit in a little more shopping on upper King Street (with a quick trip to Callie's Hot Little Biscuit for warm cinnamon biscuits). Afterwards we took advantage of the sun and took a walk on the Sullivans Island beach and grabbed some burgers at Poe's Tavern. It was so nice to have family in town and I loved playing tour guide :) Now I need to detox from all that (tasty) restaurant food and Christmas cookies!

How was your week?

  11. So many good things here! What a great week, and excellent update on the placenta positioning. Yay! Love these photos from around Charleston - such a lovely city. Since we didn't have a white Christmas in MI this year I think we might as well have had your milder weather :)
