candlefish - Charleston's best candle shop.

Last week I attended a candle making workshop, along with seven other Charleston bloggers at Charleston's newest candle shop: Candlefish.
Candlefish was created by the people behind Rewined and Produce Candles and the shop is filled with a wonderful collection of candles, stationery, and pretty vintage gifts. Note to H: Please do any future shopping for your wife at this store! :)
The candle making workshop lasts two hours and our instructor Hannah led us through the step-by-step process of making our own scented candle. We started by selecting a scent from the shop library, which features 100 different fragrances to choose from (you can mix different scents together for a unique fragrance). I went with a cinnamon fragrance for the holidays. All of the bloggers took turns pouring hot liquid wax into a metal canister, whisking their fragrance oil into the wax, pouring the scented wax into a glass container, and finally placing the wick into the candle. It was a fun process and so interesting to see all of the steps involved in making a candle. I'd highly recommend visiting Candleshop the next time you're in Charleston -- and for a hands on experience, sign up for a scented candle making class!
