cornflake dreams.: eat local.

eat local.

last week i went out for a business lunch at local root. the organic cafe is located in streeterville, for non-chicagoians that's just before you get to navy pier (east of michigan avenue). their concept is simple: passionate sourcing and REAL food at reasonable prices. annnnnd they nailed it. their menus feature local items, including seasonal vegetables and fruits. the cafe is decorated with reclaimed wood and the space is chic and cozy - the perfect spot to meet friends for lunch or drinks after work.

my favorite item on the menu? the croissants! they were super flaky on the outside and deliciously soft on the inside... i finally found croissants that can compete with the ones in paris! i ordered the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant (that was a special request..usually it comes on brioche) AND a chocolate croissant to go (i couldn't resist and it was a wonderful saturday morning treat!)

local root is located at 601 N. McClurg, Chicago IL
visit their website for a look at their full lunch, dinner, bar and BRUNCH menus.
