wedding wednesday - vintage veils.

happy wedding wednesday! this past weekend i made some progress on our wedding to-do list. i finally bought my shoes (and got them two days later- endless has crazy fast shipping!). now i am on a mission to find the perfect veil. i keep changing my mind about how i want to do my hair...so once i finally decide on that, veil shopping should be easier. here a few vintage-inspired veils that i love::

dotted veil - mini pearlsbridal blusher - seaspray veil - scalloped veil

what's your favorite style?
do you think veils are old-fashioned or a pretty addition to the big day?

jillian

Love the little dot detail on some of these! So cute! Can't wait to see what you choose.

I ADORE veils and had such a hard time too because I love so many styles- ended up choosing a silk tulle antique looking veil that was flat against my head, if that makes sense...no gathering. I also love the bottom left and top right...and the cage one- so, so pretty!

I personally didn't want to wear one, but ended up doing it. I just wore it for pics and down the aisle, but it did look very pretty. My favorites are the medium length or cathedral if you're wearing a dress that goes well with those looks.

I love veils. My grandmother wore one that her mother wore--it's the most exquisite lace that didn't cover her face, but draped down her back. definitely old WASP style in the best way possible. Go for it!

The veil was one of my favorite parts of our wedding -- I wore the same veil my mother wore at her wedding in 1979. In fact, she paid more for it than she did her dress ... it was $250.

Here it is if you are curious: http://alizadventures.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-bridal-portraits.html

(I had 2 other headpiece changes for the reception that I made, a flower and a birdcage veil)

I think veils are a must-have, but I like them simple and elegant. A little lace is always pretty.

Beautiful choices! I had one very similar to the bottom right.
Good luck with the hunt!

I think they're beautiful and so so traditional. Wish I could have had one but it competed too much with my dress and hair fastener!

LOVE the bottom left one. Although they are all gorgeous!

I remember seeing a lovely one with a delicate lace trim...beautiful! it all depends on the type of dress you wear though :)

I'm really loving the short, vintage veils. They definitely would not go w/every wedding dress but they're so pretty & sassy!

I ended up not having a veil b/c it just wasn't me. I think it all depends on the dress, the type of ceremony, & overall style of the bride but I have seen some beautiful ones.

I love modern with a traditional twist!

I love the traditional veil over your face and to the floor. However, if I could do it again, I think I would do the big layered tulled mess that goes just over your face. I'm obsessed!

i can love and hate a veil. it totally depends on the bride's style i think. some people can just rock it. others, not so much. i'm not sure where the fine line is though.

I've always thought I'd wear a veil, but I feel it's one of those things that I'll definitely flip flop on.

SO pretty! My grandma handmade my mom's veil, which we took apart & asked her to re-create for me. I wasn't a huge fan of the veil look so I wore it for the ceremony & then wore a big flower in my hair for the reception. I think it's an awesome memory & probably something I'll look back on fondly.
Good luck with your decision! I know everything will be gorgeous!!

I love all of your picks!!! That second one w/ the pearls (the largest photo) is especially amazing! Though I will not personally be wearing one, I think veils are absolutely beautiful and add that perfect 'bride' layer :) XO brynn

I can't wait to see the shoes, and I'm smitten with these veil options! I love a birdcage veil with scattered pearls–I'll make the rest of the outfit work to suit it!

I think veils are such a classic touch to your day! Plus when else in your lifetime will you be able to wear one? I love the sweet vintage feel of the petite birdcage veil, like the one you have pictured (second to last on the bottom row). But whatever you choose you will no doubt be a blushing beautiful bride!
