wedding wednesday- first kiss.

when h and i were taking engagement photos the other weekend there was a lot of kissing going on. the photo session got me thinking about the big kiss! do you remember that scene in the wedding singer where drew barrymore and her friend discuss how to do the right wedding kiss? they settled on 'church tongue' which looks a bit like a hollywood kiss...

obviously you don't have to be a celebrity to have a big kiss moment. i love these real-life kiss pics::

was your wedding kiss memorable? anything about it you would change?
have you ever witnessed an awkward first kiss at a wedding (i know i have seen a few on the show four weddings!)

  1. The timing of this post was great, my fiance and I are getting married in October and were just talking about the same thing! Especially because we're getting married in a rather conservative ceremony, there isn't necessarily room for foot-popping kisses!! Love the pictures :)

  2. We definitely talked about the first kiss before our wedding. First, we shared when the first kiss would be occurring to our photographer, to be sure they didn't miss it. And our photographer suggested we "hold" the kiss for a few seconds to be sure they got the shot. No short pecks!

As for the actual first kiss, it was entertaining. John isn't too fond of lip gloss, but of course I had some on for the ceremony. So after we were done kissing, there's a funny picture of him wiping off the gloss at the altar.

  3. I don't think I thought anything about it....just kinda let it happen on it's own - natural, beautiful and it all worked out great! :-)

  5. I was actually just talking about this same thing! I definitely think theres a fine thing between holding it for the photographer and being a little too much for family!

  6. I'm all about planning the kiss before hand! I'm awkward enough as it is, so the more planned and rehearsed, the better!

  7. I just love one of Marilyn and Joe. Makes me sad though.

  9. I think PG is a good way to think about it. I want it to be romantic but I don't want anyone watching to feel uncomfortable. We're not big on PDA to begin with so we always joke that he will just kiss me on the forehead. :)

  10. they don't do the first kiss at the church in italy! it's like, my favorite part too. but they do it on the steps of the church right after everyone bombards the couple with rice and flower petals and it's such a joyous moment! it's best when it's natural and not forced, and def not tonguey, ew!

  11. Our kiss was my favorite moment of the wedding! We didn't rehearse or talk about it beforehand, and it ended up being such a perfect, happy moment.

  19. Our kiss was pretty great - just a simple kiss on the lips but the embrace was the best part! Now for my best friend's wedding...

they really didn't know the guy who performed the ceremony well and that guy's sense of humor was annoying. He made them do their kiss over again! Because he didn't "see enough passion" or something like that. It was kind of mortifying and I wasn't even a part of it, hah!

  22. I found out during our engagement shoot that my now husband does not like kissing pictures at all. I was like WHAT?! WHAT!!!! So that was sad and we have no kissy pictures of us. Definitely a surprise for me.

  23. LOL! the show four weddings has tons of awkward first kisses.

  24. Honestly, I've never thought about this. Our kiss at the ceremony was typical normal kiss, but we have this one picture of us kissing that always makes me smile.

Now, I don't recall any particularly awkward kisses, I've been to many a wedding with awkward ceremonies!

  29. ours was hilariously loud. haha! yes, wedding kiss and movie kiss are pretty similar, aren't they? the perfect marriage of like and lust. :)

  30. heheheh what a DREAMY post haha!!

  31. Oh my goodness that one in the field...soooo dreamy and sweet!

Ours was memorable mostly because we're not really a PDA couple, so just kissing in public was memorable to the people there (I think??) It made a great picture!

  32. so adorable!!! love this post! i haven't put a lot of though into the wedding kiss just yet...though it seems as though we have been subconsciously practicing - we've been caught in 2 kissing pictures over the last couple of months! xoxoxo brynn

  33. my advice? don't practice!! i would think that in the moment, you'll never remember what you were 'supposed' to do! just go with it, that's what we did!!

oh and here is my photo :)

  35. Um, GORGEOUS kissing photos! Our ceremony was over so fast (and the whole day, for that matter) that I don't even remember much of it. I can't be the only one...

  36. These photos are so swoon-worthy! John and I went to a wedding last summer that the groom's father presided over, and the kiss was...awkward seems generous. But luckily there were plenty of "Go forth and multiply" toasts to get them in the mood!

  37. Awe! Definitely something to think about! Our kiss was kind of short & quick. (My husband definitely isn't one to like attention.) Now me, I wish it had been a LITTLE longer, but there is a fine line between going too far. I cannot wait to see your engagements! I'm sure your kiss with be very romantic & tasteful! :)
    Love, Leigh

  44. We didn't have kiss on our wedding.. It's not tradition here, they don't say "You may kiss the bride" :( That's a shame, because I love that.

  45. quite honestly everything was so surreal and i was so excited we had just gotten married i don't really remember mine. haha! but one of the favorite pictures from our wedding is of our first kiss.
