bridesmaids.

Choosing bridesmaids was pretty difficult for me. I have quite a few important ladies in my life but i wanted to keep the party small for logistics sake. After much deliberation i decided on two close friends from college, one from middle school and my cousin (who might as well have been my sister growing up). Once i finalized the list i wanted to find a unique and cute way to ask my best friends to be in the wedding. enter once wed and this post: DIY Bridesmaid Cards

I decided to create a similar card set with InDesign. the talented joelle was kind enough to create some pretty calligraphy and i was able to personalize each little lady :) I was pretty excited about the end result and it was a fun project (h even helped cut a few cards!)
i am beyond excited to get married next year with all of my friends and family in attendance.

married ladies: how many bridesmaids did you have and how did you ask them to participate in your wedding? single gals: do you already have yours picked out?!

  1. How adorable and creative- your bridesmaids will be sooo excited to get these!! I had just my sister because my husband had his daughter as his best-kid- would have seemed silly for me to have a bunch of girls on the opposite side sort of thing:) Can't wait to see all of your wedding plans evolve! xo

  2. i had 1 maid of honor, 4 bridesmaids (but one couldn't make it to jamaica) and 1 junior bridesmaid. i asked them by making them a card that said "will you" and the inside said "be my bridesmaid?" i shipped it to each of my bridesmaids with a different bridesmaid book. i know some of them found the books helpful (especially since some of them had never been in a wedding before).

  4. these are too cute! i had a maid of honor and two bridesmaids and did something similar to your cards, but with a little humor (the bridesmaid girl on the card was dressed in camo since my husband hunts a lot - they did not wear camo however).

  5. I LOVE those little cards! That is so cute! I had three bridesmaids. Two cousins, the third was SUPPOSED to be my little sister, but she back out the day before my wedding, so a college friend of mine stepped in. I just asked them over the phone, nothing as creative as you!

  6. Those cards are so cute! I love them! I don't have bridesmaids picked out for when I get married, but I have an idea who I'd like to include. I would probably have 5-6 plus my maid of honor. It's SO EXCITING to follow you as you plan your wedding! XOXO

  7. This is the cutest idea ever!!! Love it! I had 6 bms and I got really excited when we were out after my engagement that I asked them then (dang it!) but later sent them cards. I had a friend who sent me white lilies to ask if I'd be her bm and I thought that was pretty cute! Can't wait to hear about all of your wedding plans!

  8. oh my gosh, such a great idea! You are so talented! I asked my girls in person with a card and picture frame with an old picture of us. The cards all were personalized with "bridesmaid" on them.

  9. I love this. Those cards are so precious!!!!
It makes me wish I would have asked my 4 bridesmaids a different way... I just asked them verbally (since they already knew and it was understood).

Thanks for the creative inspiration, today!

  12. these invitations are really cool. I'm the eldest of three daughters and in a relationships of 4 years+ tho so I've kind of had bridesmaids as a given from birth!
It would be nice to do something like this for my maid of honour tho.

  13. LOVE this idea!! How creative and special!! I'm worried that I'm attending so many other weddings of my close friends and cousins that by the time I get hitched I'll have a hard time choosing my bridesmaids!! But there is an absolute 3 already in the line and of course my flower girl is a done deal!!

  14. Cute! I have a lot of close girlfrieneds so it will definitley be very tough to choose! I feel your pain! When I get married I could see myself going a bit off the traditional path and not having bridesmaides...just having my brother and best girlfriend since birth up there with me! xxkristin

  18. These turned out so cute! Oh my gosh, I love it! I didn't do anything too exciting when I got engaged, my bridesmaids kind of already knew that they would be in my wedding when he proposed.

I wish I would have thought to do something cute like this though.

So excited to see all of the other fun ideas you have while planning the wedding!

    xoxo,

I'll be getting married in 45 days with 6 of my closest friends/family as bridesmaids. Congrats on getting married and enjoy all the planning, it flies by!!

  21. wow! you're so creative! I should have stepped it up when asking my bridesmaids to be in my wedding! I am going to have 8 bridesmaids. My fiance has 12 groomsmen. What can I say, he's more popular than me!

  22. That is SO SO sweet! Love the handmade touches! I had 8 bridesmaids...AHH!! Quite a lot! And I got them little bridesmaid etiquette books and a bouquet card to ask them. I loved getting the calls from the girls when they all got them in the mail! So much fun! xo

  23. This is such a great idea... I'm totally adding it to my wedding inspiration folder for the future :)

I have no idea who I will have for bridesmaids yet... it's so hard because you don't want to leave people out, but at the same time it's nice to settle on a relatively small number for logistical reasons.

Congrats again and good luck with all the wedding planning!

    xoxo

  24. This is such a cute way to ask them to be your bridesmaids! I'm far from wedding planning, but I have been thinking about who I would like to be my bridesmaids in my future wedding.

How did you decide who to select as your maid of honor? I think thats the toughest question for me -- I don't want to offend anyone.

  28. What a cute idea! I love when ladies get creative & find special ways to ask their bridesmaids! :)

Am I weird for having mine picked out already & I'm not even engaged? I'm choosing my sister, my cousin & Luke's cousin. Those three girls are my best friends & my family!

I've had a lot of friends get their feelings hurt because they weren't picked for someones wedding. I've seen friendships torn apart, too! My thoughts, at the end of the day YOU have to pick who YOU want. It's your wedding :)

  32. that is so sweet and thoughtful! i would love to have all my friends be bridesmaids but i think i will just have one maid of honor, like the way they do it in italy.

p.s. to answer your question gelato has no air in it so it's creamier and richer as opposed to regular ice cream, even though it has less fat. that's so cute you showed future-husband the post! :)

  35. This is a super cute idea for asking your leading ladies to participate in your big day! For me, I had one person stand up at the alter with me; my sister. This was a pretty big decision for us, as we had a small wedding, and didn't want to have the folks up front outweigh the actual guests! My husband only had his dad with him, as his best man, so it made for a pretty special family event.

I haven't thought much about my future wedding, actually >_< Guess we'll see when the time comes.

  45. I already have mine picked out. 6 total. Not too small, not too big. And I'll probably throw in an honorary bridesmaid or two. :) I love all of the cute, different ways of asking someone to be your bridesmaid.

  46. I've been married twice. The first time, I had one bridesmaid, and it was my sister. It was hard because I also had a ton of girlfriends. Going with a relative was the "safe" alternative. The second (and LAST time), I eloped!

    Happy day!

  54. What a perfect way to ask them-they're going to be so delighted!

I decided a LONG time ago that if I had more than 1 bridesmaid I'd end up with probably a dozen girls in my bridal party, not all of whom I'd equally be excited about. As a result, I've decided on just my oldest friend/sister (our parents took birthing classes together and we shared a nanny)-she's the one person who'll love me even if I act like a bridezilla!

I love watching wedding shows, but don't think about my own wedding very much. I think because as a single gal that seems so far away for me! So excited that we get to share in your wedding planning :)

I love all your collages and boards. How do you make those, if you don't mind my asking? I'm a communications/design professional but only have design programs at work...wah wah. All your stuff is so cute and so well designed!

Congrats on your engagement! I can already tell your wedding will be gorgeous!
