weekend review.

this weekend h and i decided to skip going out to the movies since the weather was snowy and roads were icy. we stayed in and watched the kids are all right instead, and dreamt of summertime, vegetable gardens and dining al fresco. i would love to have some outdoor space to entertain and relax. my dream garden would include a garden, a lilac bush, and some sort of swing.

what does your dream backyard look like? do you have a pool? a vegetable garden? fruit orchard? gazebo? hammock? tire swing?

  12. i would love to have a garden like that! so peaceful! i completely understand staying in during the weather...i did the same. all of my friends back in the southeast were talking about how they were sitting on the porch with a drink and watching the storms move in...and here i am in ohio freezing attempting to stay warm under blankets inside. LOL! i was a bit offended!

A patio w. lounge chairs, outdoor couches, built-in bbqs, a vegetable garden, lights strung overhead... a pool off in the distance... I could go on forever! Unfortunately our weather here doesn't really make any of this possible. Boo!

  18. Beautiful pictures- makes me want to re-do a lot of the things in the backyard. I can tell you one thing that would definitely be left out of my dream backyard- a pool! It has been such a nuisance to maintain for a very short season of use!

  19. What wonderful pics, love everything and can't get enough of succulents. Just did a post on all the succulents in my garden last week and didn't realise I had some many of them! Still want more though. Would love a whole wall of them, but ended up being too pricey - but wonderful to see other people's! Have a great Monday....

  20. Those are some gorgeous pictures! I have been meaning to see The Kids Are All Right and after seeing these inspired photos, I will have to make a point to :)

My dream backyard would have a three seasons room like my parents do with a fireplace, grill and place for reading, napping and entertaining--granted they live in Southern California, so that makes it a lot easier than it would be here in St. Louis but a girl can dream!

  32. I confess, I love my parents' yard-a freshwater pool, lots and lots of flowers, a huge vegetable garden and plenty of Italian blue stone patio! I can't wait for a warm-weather visit!

  33. Didn't you just love the movie? I loved his restaurant, the space itself but also the concept of it. I loved how everything was shot so beautifully and I loved Mark Ruffalo in it. He was pretty...yummy.

My dream garden would totally be lush and have crazy flowers, beautiful wooden garden furniture and tons of cafe lights strewn about. I want it to happen so bad!

  36. i absolutely love what i'm seeing in your blog. this is gorgeous. thanks for sharing the inspiration.

my dream backyard is a place filled with the beauty of laughter, sunshine, and companionship. In early spring, daffodils would raise their giggling heads in sporadic and surprising bursts around my yard. While birds discover the subtle beauties of the yard, I will sit on a wooden swing glorying in the world around me.

  41. I love your collection of beautiful outdoor spaces! We bought our home in Southern California just because of the backyard - it is hard to find a backyard in SoCal. We spent most of our days under the coral trees and sunshine. I hope to plant our vegetable garden one of these weekends. I have always dreamed but putting strings of magical lights from tree to tree! Hope you are keeping warm and cuddly in the snow! xo Samantha

  48. I am swooning over the fire escape scene lit up by twinkle lights. It reminds me of some of my favorite NYC eats and summertime on their back patios. As far as a dream backyard, I'd definitely say a succulent garden with colorful, blooming cactus in between.
