musica.

let's talk about music for a bit... so spring means summer, and summertime in chicago means music festivals. i love to see live music outdoors. starting in june, every friday in chicago there is a free concert in millenium park where people bring picnics and wine. this year i am making it my mission to go to as many as possible.

my all-time favorite concert was jack johnson for my golden 23rd birthday. i went with a group of friends and the weather couldnt have been more perfect. i cannot wait to go to more concerts once it starts warming up. i would looove to see regina spektor and the kooks live.

i am dying to know... what was your favorite concert? do you like small venues or big shows? outdoor concerts? who is on your concert wishlist?

xoxo,

  1. Oooohh I love outdoor summer concerts! How fun would that be, to bring friends and wine and just listen to music...

I would love to see Jack Johnson in concert...

My favorite shows have been Incubus (seen them twice) and Blink 182. So good!

I'm hoping to see Taylor Swift thsi summer (duh), but tickets might be just a little out of my price range...

    Happy Wednesday!

  2. nyc does a weekly free concert series too, but only for a month and a half or so. Last year, my friend and I saw John Mayer. :) I'd love to see Jack Johnson too though. The song Do you remember is my favorite by him.

  3. I don't think there is anything better than outdoor concerts! In the NW we have a lot in the summer! My all-time favorite concert was (dont judge) kenny chesny, sugarland, lady antebellum all rolled into one event - we drank beer and danced for hours!

  4. Outdoor concerts are my favorite! The best concert I've been to is probably John Mayer, I've seen him 4 times and each time he just gets better the 2nd time I saw him was at an outdoor venus and it was probably the best!

I'm jealous you saw Jack Johnson, I've really wanted to see him live!

  5. I love Chicago's free concerts and movies in Millennium park. I really loved The Decemberists concert with the Grant Park Symphony a couple years ago (even though the weather was gross). Do you ever make it up to Ravinia? It always sounds like a good idea but then it sucks because you are never close enough to really hear...

  8. Regina was pretty amazing live, however my favorite outdoor concert was definitely Counting Crows. This summer I am looking forward to seeing Florence and the Machine in a great Philly venue by the river! There really is nothing like some great music outside in the summer!

  10. I love outdoor concerts. The zoo in my town does a thing called Tunes and Blooms every year- they get a local bluegrass band to perform at the zoo and you get in for free! It's awesome.

I saw Ray Lamontagne a few years ago- he's great. Doesn't talk AT ALL, but he's an amazing performer.

  11. I am not a big fan of concerts. They're fun to go to but I'd rather go to small ones where you sit and watch instead of dance everywhere :)

  12. I hit up Jimmy Buffet every year if possible. He just puts me in a happy place!

  13. I would love to see The Kooks live as well as Rilo Kiley but my number one on my wishlist is Prince!

Outdoor concerts are always better, more room to breathe! We are going to see A Day to Remember in San Fran in a few weeks and that's indoors unfortunately haha

  16. The nostalgic-for-high-school side of me is dying to see Taking Back Sunday live. And outdoor concerts are my absolute favorite! Northwestern has a Dillo Day concert every spring and it's fantastic; you should come up to Evanston for it one year!

  17. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I haven't been to many "concerts", at least like these! Most of the concerts we've attended are in classical music venues and full of tuxedos, but I love that!

As for hip concerts, I'll never forget seeing Dave Matthews in Central Park when I was in high school-such a crazy experience!

  23. I love going to all types of concerts but outdoor shows are definitely my favorite! My top concert memory is by far Bruce Springsteen..partially because I've had a crush on him since elementary school, but also because the energy is amazing. The Killers and Jason Mraz are also up there on my list.

  33. My most fave band is Modest Mouse, and I've seen them live twice. I absolutely love music and going to shows is so fun.

I prefer smaller, intimate venues. Phoenix has a pretty good live music scene, and I've gone to a lot of concerts since I moved here last year.

There are a ton of shows I'm looking forward to, most notably Toro y Moi, Braids, Akron/Family and Titus Andronicus.
