cornflake dreams.: September 2010

cannot wait to see...

i am excited to see Waiting for Superman, the new documentary from Davis Guggenheim (director of An Inconvenient Truth). the film is an "exploration of the current state of public education in the U.S. and how it is affecting our children." sounds like it's going to be a sad one but defiantly worth watching...

if you decide to see the film buy your tickets here: trailer & official movie site and recieve a $15 gift code to give to a classroom of your choice on

save parks and recreations.

fall premiere week for television has come and gone and i was excited to see the return of modern family and cougar town (don't judge until you watch a few episodes!) now move onto NBC...there was something missing from the usual Thursday lineup- amy poehler's parks and recreation!i was a huge fan of the office but when i got tired of mr. michael scott and his rants parks & recs became the perfect substitute. the characters are hi-larious and it is well worth watching. the show will return to nbc thursdays --mid-season (so sometime in january). lets hope the delay start of the season doesn't mean its the beginning of the end.

whatever you do, dont stop.

love song + cheese = super cheesy, but that is our favorite commercial to sing along to.... and i DO have a special place in my heart (and fridge) for la vache qui rit (laughing cow cheese).

time to dress like an adult.

i have worked in downtown chicago for almost three years now and i have yet to feel like a real "grown-up". the last time i wore a blazer (along with the rest of the suit) was at an interview. while my office does have a casual dress-code i feel the need to step away from the cardigan and try something a little more corporate:: here's my favorite option that's far less stuffy than your typical structured jacket:

wool jersey-dry clean only.
available in heather charcoal or urban grey

additional styles and budget friendly options:
pique blazer with elbow patches_zara love love the color & buttons $129
sabrina herringbone shawl collar jacket_Banana Republic  great detail- on sale for $99.00

chilly city.

what do chilly willy and mike ditka have in common?
they live in chicago on milwaukee avenue circa summer 2010

i love this city and all of it's crazy random wall murals.

all you need is love.

this month i have been reminded true love really DOES exist and marriages DO have the capability to last for years:: i have had the pleasure of celebrating multiple milestones-- my gma&gpa d's 60th wedding anniversary, gma&gpa h's 50th anniversary (pictured above), and my parents 30th! these couples were lucky enough to find love and determined enough to make it work- i am blessed to have such inspiring role models in my life.
